Thank you for your interest in our International Preschool & Kindergarten. With over 27 years as the only English-licensed stand-alone kindergarten in Shanghai, Tiny Tots International Pre-School & Kindergarten values the development of each student as an individual, in a holistic learning environment where they are encouraged to think like global citizens and act like future leaders. With our small class sizes, experienced staff, notable history including founding the Shanghai International School Association, and our relationships with top schools in Shanghai that our students graduate to, we continue to focus on being the standard for Early Childhood Education both academically and in cultivating social-emotional development.

What is your academic calendar and weekly timetable?
Our School Year starts from the beginning of September and goes through the end of June, following a traditional international school schedule. We also offer five weeks of optional summer school through July. Please refer to our calendar (post link). The typical school day is Monday through Friday, with drop-off from 8:40 to 9:00 am, and pick-up at 3:30 pm unless they have extracurricular activities in the school until 4:30 pm.

What is your education model and curriculum?
The Tiny Tots curriculum is an American based researched program named World of Wonders/Wonders. It provides supports and structure for literacy while building knowledge across all subject areas. It is developmentally age appropriate and correlates with the Early Learning Framework in many countries. We pull from best practices and have created a well-balanced, engaging, challenging but fun schedule for each level that has been incredibly successful and well-received for decades.

What are the age ranges for class enrollment?
Our traditional levels are as follows: Nursery (2 years old turning 3 during academic year) Preschool (3 years old turning 4 during academic year) Pre-Kindergarten (4 years old turning 5 during academic year) Kindergarten (5 years old turning 6 during academic year) It is possible to register and enroll at any time during the academic year, although students do usually start as a cohort all together in September.

How many students are in a class?
Our classes are capped at 15 students, with one foreign teacher and up to two teaching assistants.

How do you organize the daily meals?
Our lunch and snacks are freshly prepared daily on-site in the school kitchen which is under the strict scrutiny by the China Food and Drug Administration. Our menu consists of Western and Asian cuisine that takes into account a range of children’s dietary needs and/or allergies. One lunch and two snacks daily are included in the tuition fee.

Is there an infirmary on the premises of the kindergarten?
A full-time certified school nurse and station is on-site to ensure children’s health daily. In addition, all teachers and hold a CPR certificate.

Do you have a referral school for the transition from kindergarten to primary school?
Our students have graduated from Tiny Tots to enter some of the best international and bilingual schools in the city. As a founding member of the Shanghai International School Association (SISA), we maintain a sound working relationship with the top international and bilingual primary schools in Shanghai. It is essentially the parents’ choice where they go, but we help to work to ensure parents are prepared to find the right fit for their child’s learning style and passions. We also assist with applications including recommendations and school reports.
